Beautiful South
Beautiful South was created after the split up of the Housemartins, taking on a new manager. Beautiful South are from Hull, in the North of England. They are very sweet, fun and in exactly the right places, melancholic and moody in a pop way.

These albums are some of the most cynical, sweetest and nicest and still very deep and subtle albums I've ever bought. Beautiful South are very, very sweet, and the lyrics are meaningful; not just love songs or nonsense. Some political songs, some on social injustice.
Carry on up the Charts is the collection of Beautiful South's most acceptable, poppy and therefore successful releases. As normal, such albums do not reflect the true deepness of a band. The strength of Beautiful South is in their lyrics and subtle, melancholic music not in their "hits". There are so many dozens of great Beautiful South tracks, so many per album even that buying Carry on up the charts isn't worth it! Just buy all the albums instead!
Blue is the color is the most the recent Beautiful South that I have bought, and although it contains some very good tracks like "Blackbird on the wire" and some more Rotterdam is good. Mostly this album doesn't contain the catchiness or cleverness of previous albums, but a few concept songs remain like Liar's Bar & The Sound of North America. "Don't Marry Her" is also a popular track... because there's a swear word in it. Just call me cynical. They have released albums after this, but I do not like their contentless new material. Sorry!
