ChristRing.org seems on the surface to be a relatively safe, liberal and moral net group. Their web pages only say good things, admittedly they throw in all that theology amongst what they want to be perceieved as promoting: A message of love.

We are honored to announce that Bro. Robert (Bob) Stephenson has joined the pastoral ministry staff here at ChristRing Ministries. As a former homosexual, Bro. Bob is called of God to minister to those seeking freedom from bondage to this sinful and destructive lifestyle. As one that has been out of the lifestyle for over fifteen years, Bob is living proof of the changing power of the Holy Spirit. You can learn more about Bob and this ministry by visiting his ministry website at http://www.aineotheos.org/ and/or by writing him here at BroBob@ChristRing.org. Please pray for Brother Bob as he steps out in faith to minister God's love to the lost and dying souls in the "gay" and lesbian community. God bless you Bob and welcome aboard. |
Well. So much for niceness, Christian Love, etc. Now there are plenty of gay and non-straight Christians. No I'm not just talking about dodgy priests. There are plenty of sites (see the Links page.) that show that the Bible does not condemn homosexuality more than any other sexuality, but that is not the point.
Gay adolescents, even if they are not 'out', suffer from bullying and depression through their school lives, and often for years afterwards as they come to terms with things. Even if they can't voice and don't understand it, people normally realize they are gay from within their mid teenagers.
Being told that they are inferior, part of a sinful and destructive lifestyle, or that they are lost and dying souls! We cannot say these things to any person no matter what! It does not help! It only serves to degrade them, dehumanize them and subject them to the kind of terror we should have left behind us.
Bullying is one of the most persistent and demoralizing things that can happen to a person too young to understand why they are perceived as different. Mails sent from such an outwardly innocent source (ie, PastorDick@ChristRing.org) causes people to visibly reject gay people, to alienate them or think down on them.
Even if being gay was wrong, then this method would still be the wrong one! We cannot aid a person, and make them behave like us, by preaching to them that they arre inferior! It is against all Christian standards... there are plenty of Christians who work on a Sunday. This breaks traditional Christian law. Yet these people are not looked down on.
Christian establishments are one of the most consistent and dangerous sources of violence and evil in the playground, in schools, with their continous gay-bashing and alienation campaigns.
